St. William’s Church Baines Corner

Once a grand structure, St. William’s Catholic Church at Baines Corner was accompanied by a rectory named Sweeny Hall, as well as numerous barns and auxiliary buildings. Unfortunately, these structures were all destroyed in the Great Fire of May 1900, resulting in damages exceeding $100,000. As the congregation awaited the construction of a new church, they gathered for worship at the Baptist Church in West Quaco. The church as it stands today is a testament to the rebuilding efforts that followed the devastating fire.
