Chris Murphy is a veteran broadcast meteorologist who has dedicated more than 27 years to The Weather Network. His interest in meteorology was sparked in childhood, notably after being caught in a hailstorm while fishing, an experience that inspired him to pursue the science of weather. Determined to turn that passion into a career, Murphy created a demo tape that set him on the path to broadcasting. Over the decades, he has become widely recognized for his energetic presentation and distinctive use of humour, which make his forecasts both informative and memorable. Viewers may come for the weather, but they stay for Murphy’s engaging personality.
Fourteen years ago, we launched My New Brunswick, a website dedicated to showcasing photographs and stories from across the province. Early on, Chris came across some of our photos and, in a generous gesture, featured them on the big screen during his live TV forecasts. That act of kindness introduced our site to a nationwide audience and helped us grow to over 6.8 million visitors and more than 50,000 social media followers. Over the years, Chris has become a cherished friend, and we are deeply grateful for his ongoing support. This video is our way of saying thanks to Chris and The Weather Network.
